Reporting to the National Manager, Technical Services, the Instructor, Service Training will conduct technical training in an engaging and positive learning environment for our Retail Partner Technicians, which will improve our customers experience and support service retention. Areas of instruction include correct maintenance and repair procedures, theory and operation of new technology, use of online service information system (MGSS) and operation of the Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS). Occasional travel is required to Regional Offices as well as internationally for meetings or train the trainer educational sessions.  Travel may also be required to various offsite college locations to conduct training for retail partners in the vicinity.

Essential Duties include (but are not limited to):
 
  • Conduct technical training in an engaging and positive learning environment for our Retail Partner Technicians, which will improve our customers experience and support service retention:
    • Communicate all technical training schedules and information by posting on One.Mazda, MGSS and Mazda Brand Academy in English/French
    • Support development of technical training courses and materials.
    • Develop, prepare, update and post PDI sheets on MGSS.
    • Facilitate, and instruct retail partner technicians in area of responsibility.
    • Schedule virtual class sessions and classroom sessions (Regional and off-site facilities).
    • Maintain course attendance and training records in LMS Create and track course evaluations.
    • Maintain Regional Training facility, tools & equipment.
  • Assist the Manager, Instructional Design with the MazTech Service Skills Competition, which includes preparing initial competition tests, rules, and vehicles for hands on competition, and supporting activities for the competition.
  • Review new eLearning courses and provide feedback to the Manager, Instructional Design.
  • Provide feedback to the Manager, Instructional Design on newly updated or developed Technical Training Virtual Classroom and in-person Classroom courses which includes the creation of PowerPoint Presentations, Guides, Hand-outs, on-vehicle activities, and course outlines.
  • Provide input to the Manager, Instructional Design to create and maintain the Technician/ Master Technician Training plans and criteria to achieve Master Technician status which includes exams/hands-on testing and recognition.
Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge & Skills Required):
 
  • Post-secondary education in Automotive Technician.
  • 5 – 10 years of experience working as a licensed Automotive Technician.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience as an Automotive Instructor preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Effective time management, strong organization, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Completed or working towards Teacher of Adults qualifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and Adobe.
  • Some regional and international travel required.
  • Bilingual (ENG/FRE) is an asset.
