Senior Specialist, Human Resources

The Senior Specialist, Human Resources is a hybrid role/based out of the Richmond Hill office reporting to the National Manager, Human Resources.

The Senior Specialist, Human Resources will lead the entire talent management process, implement recruitment best practices, act as a key contributor to compensation activities, support and contribute to all culture and diversity, equity & inclusion (DE&I) related initiatives at Mazda Canada. In this role, the successful candidate will use their creative problem-solving skills to develop future ideas enabling Mazda Canada to both hire and retain top talent and continue to further enhance our strong internal culture. They will gain exposure to a variety of people & culture related projects.

Essential Duties include (but are not limited to):

Recruitment & Talent Management
  • Lead the talent acquisition cycle, implementing talent management best practices and processes
  • Lead the Human Resources team on external recruitment and communication of Mazda’s strong overall value proposition through both internal and external channels
  • Support continued employee development and succession management
Total Rewards
  • Support the annual compensation planning process which includes annual bonus planning and salary increase review
  • Support the National Manager, Human Resources in the review of the Mazda Canada compensation program to ensure internal equity and external market competitiveness
  • Act as the lead representative for the annual compensation survey process
Culture & Employee Relations
  • Support the continued review and development of culture related programs and DE&I initiatives
  • Analyse data to recommend strategies to further enhance our internal culture including deployment of employee engagement surveys
  • Analyse and understand HR KPIs and provide regular report outs to HR leadership
  • Provide support and guidance to Managers on MCI employee policy, programs, and employee relations issues
  • Lead employee investigations maintaining appropriate documentation and sourcing external legal counsel where appropriate
MCI People Systems
  • Support the continued review and refinement of MCI people systems
  • Focus Areas: Recruitment & Selection, Employee Development, Work Plans, Compensation & Recognition coordination, Succession Management, etc.
  • Other assigned duties as may be requested.
Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge & Skills Required):
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources or another related discipline
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Human Resources generalist capacity
  • CHRP designation or designation in progress preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail is a must
  • Displays high integrity and leads by example with a positive attitude
  • Superior communication skills (oral and written) and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & TEAMS
